This week, the highly anticipated Monsterverse characters, Godzilla and Mothra, were revealed as unlockable cosmetics in Fortnite, available through the paid Battle Pass. It was previously rumored that more Monsterverse content would be introduced, and now the details are finally here.
In addition to Godzilla and Mothra, King Kong (or just “Kong,” as he’s known in the Monsterverse) and Mechagodzilla are also featured in the Fortnite Item Shop. Alongside these iconic titans are new pickaxes, wraps, and emotes, all bundled together for 2,800 V-Bucks. Alternatively, individual items from the bundle can be purchased separately.
These Monsterverse cosmetics will be available until January 25, 2025, so be sure to grab them before they're gone!
What’s even more thrilling than donning the kaiju skins is the opportunity to actually play as these titans in the new Titan Takedown mode.
Starting January 17, a special portal will appear on the Battle Royale map. The first player to enter the portal will transform into Godzilla, gaining unique abilities. As Godzilla, you can use the Roar to reveal nearby players, unleash a Mighty Stomp Attack to knock opponents away, and destroy structures and players with the Heat Ray.
However, only one player can become Godzilla at a time, and it’s up to the other players to take them down! Target Godzilla’s weak spots to deal extra damage and knock off Godzilla’s Fragments, which provide 40 Health and three dash charges. The unvaulted Rail Gun and Shield Bubble are also available for added power and protection.
While Titan Takedown adds an exciting twist to Fortnite’s usual chaos, it would have been even better as a standalone mode outside of Battle Royale, allowing players to focus entirely on the titanic showdown instead of balancing it with other chaotic elements.
We’ll be jumping into Titan Takedown this weekend and will report back on Monday.
Lastly, the Monsterverse crossover brings the Nissan Skyline GT-R (R32) to Fortnite. This iconic car has long been nicknamed "Godzilla" due to its Japanese roots and incredible performance. Players can unlock this car, along with animated decals such as Godzilla, Kong, Godzilla Evolved, and Mechagodzilla. Customize your ride with Godzilla Wheels, Monarch Tech Wheels, or the classic Nissan Skyline GT-R (R32) Wheels.
The car and its customizations are also available in the Fortnite Item Shop, with most items bundled for 2,800 V-Bucks. However, the Heat Ray Boost is sold separately for 400 V-Bucks.
